Larnaca is situated on the Southeast coast of Cyprus.  It is known as the oldest living city of Cyprus.  The city was built over the ancient kingdom of Kition, a rich sea port and an important centre of the copper trade and later a Phoenician strong hold.

The seafront promenade is lined with palm trees, where you will also find a number of cafes, restaurants and tavernas.  Larnaca is popular with visitors from abroad and Cypriots alike.  At the nearby marina you will find many friendly locals and a gathering of yachtsmen from all over the world.  The town's 17^th Century fort is situated west of the promenade, and was erected in 1625 by the Turks.  It is now Larnacas Mediaeval Museum, the inner courtyard also being used as an open air garden-theatre during summer months.
