The mythological and legendary place of interest, Petra Tou Romiou, has sparked countless stories over the centuries. This place is believed to be where the celebrated Goddess of Love and Beauty emerged from the sea foam. Legend has it that should one swim around the prominent rock three times, naked and under a full moon they will find true love. Although it is debatable whether this myth is true, the Rock and its setting provide a romantic location for lovers of all ages.
The other story told about these impressive rocks, surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea, is that of the legendary Byzantine frontier-guard, Digenis Akritas. According to legend these rocks were those used by Digenis Akritas to destroy the Arab ships during a raid by the Saracens on Cyprus in the Byzantine era.
