| Health & Water Quality
There are two medical providers in Cyprus namely, Government General Hospitals and Private Clinics / Hospitals.
Most Government General Hospitals and Private Clinics / Hospitals are concentrated in urban areas, while health centres, sub centres, and dispensaries function in the rural areas. All Government General Hospitals as well as some private clinics have Emergency Departments for emergency cases.
At the Accident and Emergency Department of Government Hospitals / Institutions, all medical treatment and assistance is offered free of charge to tourists in case of emergencies. Out-patient and in-patient treatment is provided with payment of the prescribed fees, except for EU citizens who produce the E111 form, issued by their country's health care authorities.
Tourists or international guest can pay their fees through their health insurance, which covers medical expenses, only if the insurance covers the duration of the guests stay on the island. Almost all the brands of manufactured medicines are available in Cyprus.

Water quality
The World Health Organisation (WHO) classed Cyprus water supplies in both rural and urban areas as 100 per cent safe in 1999 - 2000. Most of the locals dink bottle water but it is safe to drink tap water. There are also water filters that can be used for those who are sceptical. The Health Inspectors of the Medical and Public Services of the Ministry of Health and the Local Authorities constantly check water regulation.
