The adoption of the single european currency constitutes a major event for our country, marking the last phase of a long course towards its european integration. The changeover from the pound to the euro is a multidimensional endeavour, whose success presupposes sound technical preparation of both the public and the private sector, as well as timely and efficient dissemination of information to the public.

The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Cyprus have taken up the major part of responsibility for the practical preparation and the information campaign for the introduction of the euro in Cyprus. The necessary adjustments of the legislative framework and institutional framework as well as the preparation of all involved parties are a challenge as well as an opportunity to fully reap the benefits of the euro.
